Made possible by generous grants from 4Culture and The Jack Straw Cultural Center, this collection of Kinko-ryū shakuhachi music features the first original compositions of Kodō Araki VI. Composed as a suite, these three pieces were based on traditional Kinko-ryū style honkyoku technique and inspired by imagery from poems written by Araki Chikuō II.
Complementing these pieces is a previously undiscovered work from Kodō IV, and a studio recording of Dōkyō, Kodō V’s seminal composition. Rounding out the album is Kodō VI’s playing of the essential Kinko-ryū honkyoku Hi Fu Mi Hachigaeshi, composed in part by Araki Chikuō I.
Your download will include a zip file in which all tracks and album artwork can be found and added to the digital player of your choice.
